Mute members with /admin mute
Use /admin mute to apply a temporary Discord timeout to a member.
Before you begin
- Discord Manage Messages controls whether
/adminis available by default. - You need the Moderator role configured in CoreRP. Without it, CoreRP responds You do not have permission to use this command!
- The server's
/adminenabled, channel or role access, and cooldown rules must allow the command. - CoreRP needs Discord's Moderate Members permission, and its bot role must be above the target's highest role.
- The target cannot be the server owner or a member with Discord's Administrator permission.
The target does not need a CoreRP citizen ID. This command uses Discord's native timeout and does not add a warning to the member's CoreRP warning history.
Mute a member
All three options are required:
/admin mute user:<member> duration:<integer minutes> reason:<text>
userselects the Discord member.durationaccepts an integer from1through40320minutes. Discord does not allow a timeout longer than 28 days.reasonexplains the moderation action. Keep it at512characters or fewer because Discord uses it as the audit-log reason.
- Enter
/admin muteand selectuser. - Enter the timeout length under
durationand the explanation underreason. - Send the command.
CoreRP applies the timeout immediately and posts a public User muted result with the member, reason, moderator, and duration. If the member allows direct messages, CoreRP also sends You have been muted with the duration, reason, and moderator.
The timeout ends automatically after the selected duration. Use Discord's member timeout control when it should end early.
Troubleshooting
/adminis unavailable — confirm Manage Messages and the server's Discord command permissions.- You do not have permission to use this command! — assign the configured CoreRP Moderator role.
- You do not have permission to use this here., This command is currently disabled., or a cooldown response — use an allowed channel or role, enable
/admin, or wait for the displayed cooldown. - The member does not receive a direct message — the timeout remains active. Ask them to allow direct messages from server members if they need the notice.
